splayed bowl of purple cotton and white manila hemp
Anatomy of my hand crafted paper vessels.
I use two methods to make my paper vessels:
either hand formed from pulp I've created myself or from my own hand pulled sheets of paper.
Many of my bowls and vases are made by recycling cotton fabric scraps or old clothing. To do this I first cut the fabric into small 1" square pieces; which I feed into my Hollander beater and beat to pulp. Once I have the cotton pulp, I either hand form the pulp into a vase or bowl form, or I disperse the pulp into a tub of water and hand pull sheets of paper which I form into vases or bowls.

In the two pictures shown directly above; you see two views of a 10" diameter sage colored cotton bowl hand formed from pulp made from fabric scraps given me by a quilter friend.
You can notice that many of my bowls and vases have wisps of, or are marbled with, contrasting pulp I create from various other fibers (i.e.: lighter or darker colored cotton, knotweed, manila hemp, cattails).

directly above are vessels made by recycling old denim jeans - to learn more click here
I also make vases and bowls by recycling old denim jeans, or from manila hemp, or other fibers I process directly from plants like knotweed and cattails.

My bowls and vases are available for purchase at the League of NH Craftsmen shops in Concord and Littleton.
They are also available directly from my studio which is open by appointment.
